During my 15 years of working professionally, living, and consulting in Mexico, I have accumulated a great amount of experience in the Latin American business culture and in operating businesses.

The dream of owning / buying property in Mexico is possible! You need to do your homework first, and surround yourself with a good real estate team to help you in your search and in correctly acquiring such a Mexico Property investment.
Mexican foreigners may purchase and have direct ownership of real estate in the interior of Mexico. In the regions known as the RESTRICTED ZONE, foreigners again may purchase and own Mexico property, but they must do so using either a Mexico Real Estate Bank Trust, or own it through a Mexico Corporation. The RESTRICTED ZONE is defined by the Mexican Constitution as that area located within 50 kilometers from any coastline, and within 100 kilometers from any Mexican Border.
Choosing either a Mexico Real Estate Bank trust versus the Mexico Corporation depends on the final use of the property. If you buy property in Mexico for residential purposes or like a Mexico retirement home, it is recommended to hold the property under the Trust system. If you buy property in Mexico for commercial ends, the Mexican Corporation is the preferred option. This is the basic rule of thumb, but a close study of the particular situation is needed to ensure the best suggested option according to the buyer's goals and wishes. Note: Mexican foreigners can own 100% of a Mexican corporation.
