While Coco Beach in Playa del Carmen has traditionally been considered the "end of everything" as far as the beachfront and tourist activity goes, this same area is now promising to be more like the "center of everything." Playa del Carmen condos in this area promise not only great lifestyle, but also great investment.

Coco Beach is located just north of the point where beach juts out to an out-of-use ferry dock and where a main street called "Constituyentes" meets the beachfront between two large hotels. Constituyentes is the end of the original downtown tourist area, and has now already become the center with large amounts of development (restaurants, bars, hotels, condos, etc.) having appeared to the north along the beachfront.

Between Constituyentes and Coco Beach is Mamitas beach, which is home to one of Playa del Carmen's favorites, and also hosts the annual Riviera Maya Jazz Festival, presenting jazz from all over the world, live on the beach!

Coco beach is another point, which juts out closer to the Chunzubul reef, providing a great place for snorkeling and diving. Several dive shops have existed in the area for some time already. The reef also protects the beachfront, keeping the water very still in this area, and the beach very wide. So far, the beach itself is not as full as the areas right by downtown, and after Coco beach, the beach becomes fairly abandoned.

This will probably soon change, however. In this same area north of Coco Beach, two new hotel projects are currently underway, expected to be finished around 2012. There is also an area where streets are being laid for further Playa del Carmen condos developments. This means that when this finishes, Coco Beach, instead of being the "end of everything," will become the "middle of everything" where the original downtown beachfront area will meet the new development beachfront and tourist area.

Those who buy a condo in the Coco Beach neighborhood now will soon be enjoying a growing number of restaurants, bars, services and events right next to home. There is already a restaurant/bar in the nieghborhood, and a new Italian pizza shop has just opened up. Besides convenience, this also points to increased property value.

In the mean time, the main area of shops and restaurants along the beach is still a reasonable walk away, making life in this area convenient already.

With growing tourist arrivals north of the area, it also means the possibility for vacation rental income.
