The Mexico condo market offers buyers a wide selection of options, and Playa del Carmen real estate is no exception. Location and community style is one of the largest factors in determining the lifestyle which owners will enjoy. The following are a few of the community styles available within Playa del Carmen.

Downtown. The heart and soul of Playa del Carmen's tourism and real estate industries are the areas surrounding Fifth Avenue, the pedestrian street which is home to many bars, cafes, restaurants and specialty shops. The majority of development of high-quality condos has been in the north half of downtown, just back from the area known as Little Italy, and north to Coco Beach (about half a kilometer away.) Recently, the south half of Downtown has been seeing a transformation, with newer, upscale condo complexes beginning to appear there.

Playacar. Playacar stands out as an option in itself among the gated communities, since it is the area's first upscale community, and offers very close access to downtown, often within walking distance. Phase II is off the beach, but is only a short drive away, and is centered around a golf course. Phase I is directly on the beach, and is a bit pricier, needless to say.

Gated Communities along the Riviera Maya. The stretch of beachfront resorts heading north towards Cancun, and south towards Tulum also offer a large selection of Playa del Carmen condos. Some of these have residential condos blended with tourist-focused hotels, offering residents all the services of a 5-star resort at their home. One community, Puerto Aventuras, is a complete community in itself, with a shopping and dining area, a mall, a school, a church, golf course and marina.

Boutique Communities. The phrase "boutique community" is a new one, and refers to a small, gated community with a unique design, including features to help residents live a relaxing lifestyle to its fullest. Only a handful of these have begun to appear in Playa del Carmen, but they offer condo buyers the option of buying into a "lifestyle" in addition to buying a high-quality property.

Within each of these categories, there are many choices, and a variety of styles available. Contact a qualified, experienced agent to begin exploring your options more carefully.
