More shopping options. The city's second Walmart just opened in December 2010. There are about 8 similar large super-center stores. The two new malls are filling and growing quickly with stores and services, including banks, supermarkets, clothing, furniture, shoes, jewelry, books, and much more. Weekly discount days and many super specials allow buyers to find products they need at even lower prices than Mexico's already accessible prices.

More roads and highways. Within the past couple of years, a new "arch-road" bypass was created, with lanes, connecting the two malls, and creating another access from the north to the south of the city. In early 2011 a series of new highway bridges, spanning virtually the stretch of the federal highway through the city, are scheduled for completion. These bridges will not only avoid increased traffic in the city itself as tourism in the area grows rapidly, but will also allow residents in the new gated communities in the north or south of the city to access the downtown area and malls faster – probably less than 10 minutes.

More entertainment. There have been a number of eco-parks offering tourists as well as residents a very accessible and enjoyable approach to nature and culture for some time. There are four marinas in the area, and a new Nick Price golf course is about to be added to the 8 professional golf courses that already exist in the area. Each of the 2 large malls includes a large-screen movie theater, with most American movies in English. In 2011, one of the malls is also going to open the city's first bowling alley.

In each of the areas, the options and choices are growing. Playa del Carmen real estate just keeps getting better.
