Are you wondering what country you should invest in? Maybe ask the richest man in world, Carlos Slim. He's investing over $4 billion dollars in Mexico's booming telecommunications industry. The good news is, you can invest Playa del Carmen property – another booming industry – for much less than $4 billion dollars!

During January, Carlos Slim, the Mexican tycoon who has been at the center of, and has gained muc of his success through Mexican telecommunications, as well as a series of other businesses, announced that during 2011 he would be investing amounts up to 44.65 billion pesos principally into that sector, exceeding the amounts he invested in 2010 by 13%.

Carlos Slim obviously has confidence in investing very large quantities of cash into Mexico's economy. You, as a potential real estate investor, can share this confidence; what's more you can also get your own piece of the pie and enjoy excellent return from money invested into Playa del Carmen's real estate market.

Of course, you don't have to invest $4 billion dollars! You don't even have to invest $1 million. A fairly moderate investment of $150,000 USD – or even less if you look around – can offer you as a real estate buyer a reasonable return.

One angle of attack is to buy a Playa del Carmen home for sale, or condo that is conveniently located for tourist usage. These properties don't have to be directly on the beachfront; a few blocks back, or sometimes even a short drive away can hold appeal for small groups of vacationers looking for an alternative to a hotel. In the case that you don't have the cash to buy upfront, some buyers have even managed to invest through a mortgage, and use the rental income to pay the monthly payments and expenses.

Another option is a personal project, investing in Playa del Carmen land for sale. While land downtown has risen drastically in prices, lots in newly developing upscale areas are still available for very accessible prices. A home built on one of these lots has the potential to hold a much higher resale value, or even serve as a rental income source later on. A similar type of project is a fixer-upper; while Playa del Carmen is relatively new, a couple of originally working-class neighborhoods near the beach have just begun to show signs of gentrification, and well-built home in need of a renovation can be found at very reasonable prices.

So, you don't have to be the world's richest man to make money investing in Mexico. Playa del Carmen property investment is a very profitable option, within reach of most budgets.
