If your are interested in buying Cancun real estate, there are two important questions for you in considering the future of your investment. One is, can Mexico reach the top 5 nations in the world for tourism? The other is, how will this benefit your real estate purchase?

The answers are, yes, Mexico is very well positioned to continue rising in importance in international tourism, and, this will have excellent implications for anyone buying Cancun homes for sale, as well as condos.

During 2010, Mexico recovered its tourism levels and more from the low point when the combined factors of the recession and the swine flu almost halted tourism to Mexico for a few weeks; it has now passed its all-time high, and continues to grow.

However, for Mexico's Federal Government, this is not enough. Early in February 2010, Gloria Manzo, Mexico's federal Minister of Tourism announced that Mexico aims to become one of the top 5 international tourism destination countries in the coming years, and therefore is not satisfied with having recovered the visitor levels during 2008.

Cancun, which in many way sets the standards as an ideal and successful tourist destination in Mexico and well beyond, is well positioned to benefit from any effort which the federal government makes to reach this goal. 40 years after Cancun was created from scratch as Mexico's first planned Integral Resort Community, the city continues to attract more tourists every year, topping destinations within Mexico in numbers of international tourists.

As the federal government makes efforts to increase these numbers, it will likely place a proportional amount of investment in infrastructure and promotion on places which are already strong, like Cancun and Puerto Vallarta.

Also, as tourism continues to grow in response to these efforts, more private investment will be drawn to the area. Both of these factors mean that Americans and Canadians who buy homes or condos in Cancun will be enjoying new roads, excellent airport service, more restaurants, even more shopping options (there are already a good deal) and in general a larger number of services, conveniences and activities.

This means that Cancun real estate, a place which is already well ahead of the game in offering Americans and Canadians a comfortable lifestyle, will only get better.

"With the potential of Mexico, should be the number one power in world tourism," Said Gloria Manzo. Cancun is the epitome of this potential, and how Mexico can develop it.
