Recently, Mexico has made a commitment to work together throughout its various states and regions to promote the country as a whole; the World Tourism Organization (WTO) has recognized that this coordinated effort will make a significant difference in placing the country among the top tourist destinations world-wide.

What does this vote of confidence mean for Mexico real estate buyers? It means that they can buy here with added confidence that the number of modern international services will keep growing, that lifestyle will keep improving, and that there will be a healthy market for Mexico rentals for vacationers should they choose to rent out their property to generate an income.

One excellent example is that of Playa del Carmen homes for sale. Families and retirees have proven that it is possible to enjoy a home for part of the year, and enjoy an income from that home for the rest of the year. Mexico's policies on tourism have played a large role in transforming this community from the sleepy fishing village in the middle of nowhere less than half a century ago to one of Latin America's leading tourist destinations, now offering many activities and modern services to add to the enjoyment of vacations and lifestyle on one of the world's most beautiful beaches.

As recognized by the WTO, Mexico's newest, nation-wide coordinated effort is sure to strengthen tourism in the country even more, meaning that places like Playa del Carmen and its real estate markets will continue to see more benefits from this growth.

The current goal of the various states within Mexico, as mandated by President Felipe Calderon, is to work to place this country within the top 5 world-wide tourist destinations. Upon reviewing this plan, the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organisation, Taleb Rifai, recognized the tourism strength of Mexico and said the country is ready to receive a greater number of visitors and make its way to top five "tourism super-powers."

He recognized the coordinated work that is driving the Federal Government with close cooperation with the private sector to align policies to the orderly and sustainable growth of the industry.

He said that tourism in Mexico is strong and the country has enough tourist attractions to be the main and even the only travel destination for many international visitors.

The Director of World Travel and Tourism, David Scowsill, likewise acknowledged that Mexico has a rich culture and has one of the most biodiverse regions in the world, giving country a greater attractiveness than most countries around the world.

These points offer a double benefit to home buyers and other real estate investors looking to Mexico; besides an excellent lifestyle, many activities and a growing number of services, growing tourism also promises to increase each of these.
