Buyers considering new Playa del Carmen condos in newly developing parts of the city will be pleased to know that the federal government has shown support for a specific agenda to ensure organized urban growth in the area.

The federal representative for the area, Juan Carlos Pereyra, identified an “ideal location” and a strong reputation as items working in favour of Playa del Carmen and the surrounding communities.  He also called for ongoing “sound urban and regional planning, design and appropriate building processes,” to ensure that Playa del Carmen will “see benefits not only in its development, but in economic productivity, the environment and especially the health of their inhabitants.”

He emphasized that Urban Development in the State should continue toward sustainability, thus achieving a healthy balance which will serve as the framework in the growth of Playa del Carmen on the level of environment, economics and real estate development.

This emphasis is a benefit for Playa del Carmen condo buyers, especially for those buying in newly developing parts of the city.  An important example is the north end of the city, where much of the area still remains undeveloped.  On the whole, the area shows a good deal of potential, with luxury resorts, professionally-designed golf courses (including El Camaleon, host to the Mayakoba Golf Classic, Latin America’s first PGA event) and well-designed gated communities with quality condo complexes.

Policies promoting and political support for organized and well-planned growth for the city will ensure that this are continues to develop along lines which will offer residents more conveniences, an upscale lifestyle atmosphere and increasing property value.

Peyrera works closely with Mauricio Rodriguez, Secretary of Urban Development in Quintana Roo, on issues such as sustainable housing development (DHS), where both were able to confirm the benefits of new projects which were designed with the environment in mind, including substantial green areas, specialized access for people with disabilities, as well as recreation areas for youth and families.

The term sustainability implies that it is comprehensive and aimed at achieving land and space, improved comfort and internal environment, making efficient use of water and energy, using efficient building materials and equipment, and creating, developing and promoting laws to support this concept as well as projects that demonstrate the success.

The emphasis on the environment and resource use is important for most real estate buyers as well.  Many buyers choose this newly developing are in the north end of Playa del Carmen precisely because of the views and close contact with the surrounding nature.  Policies protecting this aspect will help ensure the ongoing appeal of the area.
