When Mexico real estate generally offers high quality for low prices, it is still worthwhile for buyers to keep their eyes open for unique opportunities to get the most for their money.   One such option to consider now is that of fixer-uppers in TOP MExico, Playa del Carmen real estate.

The following are some tips of what to look for in a Playa del Carmen homes for sale for your fixer-upper project:

  • Near the beach or amenities - While there are a variety of locations where buyers might consider a fixer-upper, there are a couple of locations that require special attention.   One of these is a couple of beachfront communities that were founded as low-income communities for workers arriving from other parts of the country, and continue to serve this purpose primarily.   These communities offer a short walk to the beach, a walk or very short drive to downtown, and a quiet, small-community atmosphere.   They also promise to gentrify and transform in their social atmosphere very soon because of their prime location, and very low prices.   Other locations to consider are downtown or just a little further back from the beach.

  • Low Priced - This point might seem obvious, but it's important to put this into the context of the market.   The area described above is low-priced.   Buyers also need to take care that they consider the expenses of the renovation project, in addition to the cost of the property purchase, and compare this to the cost of a ready-to-use home.   The style of the project is also important.   Some homes could be used while being renovated little by little.   Others would need some work before moving in.   Generally speaking, buyers can find considerable savings   if they have a bit of flexibility for what style of project they undertake.

  • High-Potential The areas mentioned above are high potential.   At the moment they seem kind of peripheral to the “main action” of Playa del Carmen, but the city is growing rapidly, and these areas will soon be “central” in all senses of the word; this is especially true of the beachfront communities.

This is a market that has gained little attention from investors and international buyers but shows high potential and is worthwhile for anyone who's looking for opportunities that have not yet been over exploited.
