When buying Mexico land for sale, most buyers know that there are many possibilities as to what could be done with a land purchase, and search accordingly; Yucatan real estate is no exception.  Yucatan is one of the most diverse real estate markets within Mexico real estate.  The following are a few possibilities.

City home – The city of Merida has a variety of lots in a variety of locations, of different sizes and shapes.  There are excellent choices for those who wish to have their custom home built for vacationing or retiring in this romantic colonial city.  Merida is full of culture – art, music and excellent food – as well as age old traditions and ways of life.  While some buyers prefer to invest in original colonials, others prefer to enjoy this lifestyle in a custom home that they themselves had designed.

Beachfront home – Only 30 minutes from the city of Merida is the town of Progreso; from this town, in either direction, there is a stretch of beachfront villages.  Lots can be found near the town center, or in quieter residential areas.  Many buyers are surprised by the low price of lots in these beachfront villages; even more surprising is how relaxing the lifestyle is in the home they had designed just for this kind of beachfront lifestyle.  Life in these villages is still very relaxing, not yet completely changed by the coming and going of international tourists.

Ranch – In the countryside around Merida there are nice lots that can be used to build a countryside home; there are also larger plots of land which are ideal for setting up that little ranch you always dreamed of for retirement.  This kind of setting is ideal for anyone who loves gardening, nature, horse-back riding and plain and simple quiet and relaxation.  As with the beachfront lots, it’s surprising how low the price is of enjoying this kind of lifestyle in Yucatan.

Small business – There are plenty of opportunities for business in the city of Merida as well as in the beachfront towns.  Buyers can sometimes invest in a lot to build on for the purpose of running their own small business; some expats have fared very well this way in Mexico, enjoying a little project that they’ve always wanted to do, while bringing in an income besides!

If you’re interested in living in the Yucatan area, ask an experienced real estate agent about the possibility of investing in land.
