Recently, a client considering a home in Bahia Principe real estate sent me this e-mail.  With his permission, I’m passing it on to anyone other golf lover considering the area!

“I have a little confession to make.  As time goes on, I’m getting more and more excited about owning my new home in Riviera Homes.  I love golf, and nothing could be more of a golf lover’s dream than living next to the Bahia Principe golf course.  Yet, for a while there, it was beginning to look like not everything about this ‘golf lover’s paradise was going to be so rosy … at least not to begin with.

Here’s what happened; when you first presented us this option, I was the first to read about it.  I got so excited, that I began telling my wife about the golf course – designed by Robert Trent Jones II, etc., then about the 9 other great golf courses nearby.

Then I got to the highlight of everything – “I can play golf all year round – any day, any season …!”

“Oh, really,” she said in a voice more concerned than excited, and suddenly I stepped off of my little cloud and remembered that golf was my dream, not hers.

“What?” I said.  “It’s not going to be that different than here – I’m already addicted to golf!”

“But here,” she retorted, “you can only play golf for 4 months of the year.  There, you’re going to do nothing else, all year round.”

“Look, I’m sure you’re going to love it there – it’s a resort! You can live like you’re on vacation all the time.”  I called her over to my laptop to start looking at the other stuff at Bahia Principe (I had ignored the rest of it.)  But she wasn’t buying it.  Eventually we decide to go and take a look at a few options.

That was our last visit.  We hadn’t said anything, but my wife was pretty apprehensive about the golf-course thing.  I have to tell you, though, by the end of the visit, it was me who was putting on the breaks and trying to slow things down.  She got so excited about being near the beach, the beach club, the gym, the tennis courts and the quaint town center nearby in Tulum, she was the one rearing to go.  She even fell in love with the jungle setting of the golf course.  You remember by the end of the visit, I think she was doing just about all the talking.  I almost got kind of jealous, like she had stolen my show or something …

But hey, I’m not going to complain!  My dream home is on its way, and we’re both delighted!”

As of the end of 2011, this couple is currently well on their way to becoming one of the first proud owners of a home in the Riviera Homes development in the Bahia Principe resort complex, just north of Tulum, about an hour and a half south of the Cancun International Airport.  I remember this visit, and seeing the wife’s enthusiasm go from zero to well over 100% as she saw the resort and the surrounding area!  We’re proud to be the ones who helped them find their dream home – a dream come true for both of them!
