Condos are by far the most popular and available choice. In Cancun, condos line the 30 miles of beachfront that stretch out along the famous Hotel Zone. Condos tend to be high rises and offer spectacular views of the Caribbean, with direct access to what many people consider to be the most beautiful beaches in the world. On top of that, there is direct access to shopping malls, restaurants, bars, beach clubs, golf courses and much more.
Since condos are high rises, there tend to be a healthy number available with lots of selection. Prices also tend to be very accessible, since there are more condos on smaller spaces. Most condos also qualify for mortgages, and with exposure to the largest group of international tourists in Latin America, resale is usually fairly easy as well.
The typical style is modern, with open concept designs, large windows, balconies and beautiful views.
Cancun Homes
Homes in Cancun are most easily found in the city center, which is separated from the beachfront area by a lagoon, but is only about a 10-15 minute drive away. Homes in the city center area offer the advantage of a walk-everywhere lifestyle with close access to shopping malls and large international stores (like Walmart and Home Depot). Like the beachfront area, there are plenty of restaurants, with the added options of elegant sidewalk cafes and local taco shops.
Homes in the city center can be a more modern style, but often have a Mexican touch to them with items such as colorfully painted tiles, archways and red clay roofs.
Prices of homes are also very accessible, with the option of fixer-uppers making the prices even lower for those who like projects. For people who choose the fixer-upper option, a warm-weather lifestyle in a beautiful home near the beach becomes much more affordable that most people think it would be.
