When people think of Playa del Carmen real estate, the first thing that usually comes to mind is condos on the beachfront.   These are an excellent choice; however, there is a good variety of property types and locations to consider.   The following are a few tips to keep in mind.

  

Look Back from the Beach

Playa del Carmen's beachfront is absolutely beautiful; yet it can usually be enjoyed as a part of everyday life even by those who live a few blocks back. Because of the layout of the city, even condos and homes 5 or 6 blocks back have good walking access to the beachfront.   This opens up a very large number of good property options to consider.   Perhaps most significantly for most buyers is that the 10 minute walk (which is a very pleasant one) could save them $50,000 USD!

  

sDon't Forget about Land

Despite the fact that Playa del Carmen land for sale is perhaps the most overlooked property type in the region, there are excellent lots for sale in good locations, such as nice gated communities or on golf courses.   As buyers always like to imagine, buying a lot and having a custom home built costs noticeably less than buying a similar home complete.   High-quality constructors also manage the project from design to placing the “welcome” mat, offering online updates with pictures complete information on costs and progress.

Search Downtown and Out of Town

Downtown Playa del Carmen, residents are within walking distance of shops, cafes, bars, live music, grocery stores, galleries and more.   In any of the nice gated communities out of town, there are beautiful green areas, bike trails and direct contact with plenty of nature.   Buyers should consider options in both locations, and actually physically walk around in both when they arrive to view properties.

  

Consider a Marina Property

Puerto Aventuras real estate offers 3 upscale marina communities, and a nice golf course.   While beaches are always within walking distance, owning a condo overlooking the waterways (or even your own yacht moored at your front door, if you're a boat lover) is as good a view as the beaches - and perhaps even more charming!
