Every so often, someone shows up with a question like this: “I only travel to Cancun once or twice a year - is it worth my while to buy a condo?”

The answer: Probably “yes.”

Each person's situation is a little different, and buying a Mexico condo for sale in Cancun isn't the right move for absolutely everyone who comes here on vacations. Yet, for the majority of people who show up even just once or twice a year, it's a worthwhile investment.

The following are some of the reasons:

Low condo prices - Real estate in Cancun ranges from million-dollar mansions on the beachfront, to beautiful beachfront condos with views of the Caribbean Sea often starting significantly under $100,000 USD. The market offers many good condos (and other properties) for a full range of prices, offering something for everyone. This means, instead of paying a hotel or renting a condo, you can own your dream property for a price you can afford. (See here for full listings of properties in all price ranges in Cancun.)

Rental income - So, you're only using the property twice a year? Well, I can guarantee that once you own it, you'll find yourself heading down more often! But on the other hand, any time that you're not using your condo, you can put it up on the rental market to help cover expenses. This means you'll be the one collecting the rent instead of paying it! Cancun is one of the healthiest tourism markets in Latin American. Take advantage of this.

Retirement property - If you own your property in Cancun now, you'll be set for retirement when the time comes. This will remove several steps of planning when the time comes, and allow you to jump right in and begin retirement more quickly.

Comfort of being “at home” - Vacationing is a time to get away from home, but anyone who owns a condo on the beach (or even a cottage on the lake) will tell you that there's a certain amount of comfort in having a home base that you come back to year after year. Even if you are renting out, you can lock up personal stuff and come back to your own things, ready to enjoy and use.

Bragging rights - “I own a condo on one of the nicest beaches in the world.” Sounds really nice to say! Just don't brag too much - you might end up having more friends than you want.

Still need convincing? I would just suggest that you come and start looking. You'll be pleasantly surprised!
