Cozumel Real Estate is strongly tied to the islands thriving cruise industry; many real estate buyers make their first visit to the island on a Caribbean cruise, fall in love with Cozumel's unique beauty, then start taking a look at Cozumel MLS listings to see what's available on the island. Of course, the island's community holds a strong tie to Playa del Carmen Real Estate, both as an "older sister" - Cozumel was one of two areas of this state that continually inhabited since before colonial times - and as the original reason for Playa del Carmen's existence and growth into an thriving international tourist and real estate destination; Playa del Carmen's famous Fifth Avenue first gained fame because of ferry passengers headed to Cozumel through the village's dock. Since the early 2000's Playa del Carmen MLS listings will show a property options unimaginable 20 years ago. Cozumel and Playa del Carmen's strong ties are also reflected in the fact that a strong cruise industry in Cozumel not only provides the island's residents with more activity and a stronger economy, but it also provides an excellent place to visit for Playa's residents, something a little different from the Riviera Maya.

For this reason, strong cruise activity is good news for real estate buyers in both Cozumel and Playa del Carmen, and it's good news that May of next year, the island welcomed the arrival of the world's largest cruise ship, "Oasis of the Seas" from the shipping company, Royal Caribbean. On the cruise was promoted not only all the relaxing, natural attractions of Cozumel, but the many activities and Mayan archaeological sites of both Cozumel and the Riviera Maya.

The arrival of "Oasis Of The Seas" is a demonstration that Cozumel's ports and attractions are recognized as the best in the world, as is the fact that Cozumel can boast the highest number of cruise arrivals. The 6300 passengers on the vessel will help to boost the economic income of Cozumel, which varies annually, which is around 2.5 billion dollars a year, according to the Florida and Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA).

According to the shipping schedule, the largest cruise ship in history will visit the ports of Cozumel and other points in the same state (Quintana Roo) during the first week of May 2010. The cruise will start on the first of that month in Florida, moving to Haiti and later the Grand Costa Maya and Cozumel, the seventh day to return to the starting point. Recently, on December 17th, Cozumel also welcomed the Carnival Dream, with a capacity of 5 thousand passengers.

The attraction of tourists to the area is reflected in a level of luxury in hotels that matches that of the real estate available; Grand Velas All Suites & Spa Resort has received an investment of 300 million dollars, placing it on the list of only 100 hotels worldwide that offer the most luxurious presidential suites available. The suites were designed by Mexican architect Ernesto Vela; they include a full kitchen, dining area with a marble table, bars, coffee machines and plasma TVs of 42 inches. While there are certainly properties available to match this level of luxury, there are many kind of real estate options available, as Cozumel and Playa del Carmen MLS listings will show, ranging from rustic to luxurious, or a contemporary blend of the two; there is diversity for any choice of lifestyle.

The arrival of this cruise will show the importance of Cozumel in its high quality of infrastructure for visitors, just as it reflects the importance of real estate in Cozumel and Playa del Carmen for the market of international buyers.
