How Difficult is it to Find and Buy Furniture in Playa del Carmen Mexico

I just spent an afternoon with my client, a new Mexico condo owner touring Playa del Carmen searching for furniture It was a hot Sunny afternoon driving, stopping, browsingNormally on a week end we would be out on the beach, kayaking, or some type of out door activities with my kids so I was a little hesitant on the game plan But the day was actually very entertaning, educational, the kids had fun, and my wife found a lot of new products to put on her wish list Good words to know in Spanish MUEBLES ENTREGA EXISTENCIA CUANTO CUESTA . Also, remember, a normal process includes a punch list before doing the activities of buying furniture outlined in this post

Playa del Carmen Furniture Store

Many buyers of real estate here in Mexico have the questions “Where do I furnish my property once I have purchased” or “Are there any good furniture stores with inventory on stock to buy in Mexico” I also here quite often “Should I buy my furniture from my home country and ship it down to Mexico”

I think most people are surprised at the growth of Playa del Carmen and of Cancun The quantity of shops and furniture stores, designers has grown tremendously over the past 3 years.

Mexico Furniture Stores2-2You can now find furniture for most price ranges Whether you want to furnish your Mexico home for your own personal useage or if you are furnishing it for renting, you can find a wide variety of options just along the main highway of 307 You can also find several options to purchase on line, from long distance while you are back in your home country In fact, about 45 days ago I had some clients purchase their Playa del Carmen condo, set up the delivery date, and were able to coordinate the delivery to occur the day after they had signed the Mexico purchase sales contract

Only last week, I had some other people ask me “Should we pre-order living room furniture on -line, or are there stores that will have good quality couches, futons, etc available for immediate delivery from Cancun or Playa del Carmen” What I can tell the people with this question is that in our venture last week end, I would say that 90% of what we saw was in stock and they were able to deliver immediatelyDelivery usually does not occur on the same day obviously, and in our case, it was set up for either the following Monday or Tuesday of our order date.

Now, I should also point out, that our shopping tour for Playa del Carmen furniture occurred in September In September there is a little less traffic in the area therefore we could assume that less people are in town shopping at this time as well In the high season, this probability factor may drop down to 75% chance that what you see on the floor is available for immediate delivery.

Mexico Furniture stores 6Another question; “What do I do, rent a small van or small truck for delivery to my unit and how do I get it up the stairs” The majority of the stores will have in house deliveries whose expenses are already included into the price And, most buildings above 3 floors have an elevator, not all buildings have a service elevator, but then again the use of pulley system is very creative down here in MexicoIn a typical city or town, there are usually various businesses of mudanzas, meaning Moving Companies And the people who work here are extremely creative and resourceful in finding solutions The furniture we bought this past week end was all delivered and assembled without any extra expensesThe property owner tipped the guys after a good sweat was produced from all the trips up and down the stairs on the hot day.

Mexico Furniture Stores 9A couple of tips that I can share with you when preparing to furnish your new Mexican home is to properly define the style of furniture you seek First decide if you will be using your unit as a rental or if your property is going to be used just for family and personal vacationing If renting out, then buy property that is durable and practicle Don`t expect renters to go out of there way to take care of nicer accesories or furnitures Many people purchase their property with a strategy to rent out for about 2 or 4 years, and then begin using their Mexican second home full time once they have retired

Mexico Furniture Stores 10They plan for the furniture to last about 2 or 3, and then they will replace with nicer quality, more to the tastes of the actual home owners Also, know your area and climate wear and tear There are some zones of Mexico where the humidity can be greater than average and other climates where the sun or salt water can be harsher than expected In zones with high humidity selecting wood choices of your furniture can be quite important Koba for example is quite common along the Mexican Caribbean In zones along the Mexico Pacific oceanfront using Aluminum combats the salty erosion affects of the sea water breezes

    Hello, Thomas.

Thanks for a great post. I agree with your points on durability if the home is to be rented. It is important to choose the most durable fabrics and materials and to plan on replacing them every 3 years or so, to continue getting the most competitive bookings. Our company helps clients furnish their Mexican homes / Mexico rental properties. We do lots of customization to help clients create a special environment: rustic, antique or contemporary. Our Gringo Furniture artisans make the furniture and we then deliver anywhere in Mexico.
