Playa del Carmen real estate region has hundreds of attractions throughout the year

The other day, I recieved a message from some very good Canadian friends talking about their thoughts on the Playa del Carmen real estate market and opinions of living in the region.  My friends had read our Mexico real estate blog and wanted to expand on my notes of the local attractions and activities which I had mentioned.  I was thrilled that they have been exploring, enjoying, and discovering so much of this Playa del Carmen real estate region.

“Wow Thomas…you hit a topic that is very near and dear to our hearts….that is the attraction to the entire Playa del Carmen  area………..there is so much to do….for people of all ages and ability levels and especially for the budget conscious ….we have found many new things to do and look forward to sharing them with our guests.  Some of the day trips we have discovered are……..

The entire area offers many Theme parks and ruins to go see and are all great trips especially to learn about the Mayan culture.   Did you know the Mayans discovered CHOCOLATE now we must all love them……there is also lots to do for the retired Playa del Carmen traveler and visiting family members ………..

Akumel is a good destination,  the beach is fantastic for swimming and of course snorkeling but if you don’t like the water it is perfect to bring along a beach chair and a cooler and sit under the trees and watch the people go by…it also made for an interesting walk along the beach.   They also have a great restaurant there with food choices for everyone.   If you want to snorkel in a lagoon you just make a left hand turn once you are inside the gate of Akumel and follow the road along a row of beach front house and you will come to a very unique Lagoon for a minimal fee you can rent equipment or bring your own.   The swimming is easy and lots of fish to see.

Puerto Adventuras gives you a whole different adventure….the Dolphin shows and of course the chance to swim with the dolphins …if you are on a budget then you can just walk around the shops and restaurants and watch the dolphins swimming in their compound….there are also lots of boats in the marina there to view.

Puerto Morelos …Snorkel trips and fishing charters are inexpensive….so if those snorkel and fishing charters are your thing then it would be worth it to check it out.

If you want to go on a huge adventure you can always drive down to Punta Allen which is in the Sian Kaan reserve lots of spots to stop on the way down this well worn road…..worth the hour long drive once you get there.   They offer very reasonably priced Snorkel and fishing charters out of there….the snorkeling is like no other….it is like swimming in a aquarium…it is just off shore and the water is super calm.   They also have this very unique area the boat tours will take you to and the water is only about 18 inches deep as far as the eye can see….perfect for playing with little kids.   The town of Punta Allen itself is very cool like being in a remote tropical island.

There is a smaller adventure you can go on which is on the same road towards Punta Allen…………once you have turned left at the lights in Tulum you would make a left at the first large road you come to…that will take you to the public Tulum beaches which are bar none the best beaches in the area perfect for swimming.   They have a Beach Club there so there is places to eat and good washrooms….  If you travel past that road you will see all of the very unique tiny boutique Eco friendly hotels…..I would recommend you stop at Zebra and or Om they both have beach front restaurants and bars and will let you hang out on their beach chairs and palapas huts if you are ordering food or drinks from them………well worth it…their beaches are FANTASTIC not a rock or piece of coral in the water.  It is a very tropical beautiful area.
Of course every family has members who prefer shopping…………. 5Th Ave is only one of many good shopping area right in Playa there are several small streets and alley ways off of the 5th    that are worth while , there are some very nice day spa’s and yoga studios hidden away amongst those streets. Also we have found Artist studios in the most unusual places within the streets….   Of course if you are looking for a “Lower cost Massage” ..there are several along the beach front.   You could spend a whole week discovering everything Playa del Carmen itself has to offer.  Of course for that good old feeling of “Just like Home” there is always Wal Mart and it is right in town..(for some reason all of our guests get all excited to go to a Mexican Wal mart) ..speaking of grocery stores…..they have great grocery stores…for a retiree the prices are right.

Speaking of Playa….there is an area on the south side of Playa called Playa Car it is a high end neighborhood that offers Bike Paths and walking trails it also has a very cool bird sanctuary in it, oh and did I mention it also has a mall.   We have often rented bikes and taken a leisurely ride around the many streets in there.  Easy bike riding.    They also have a beautiful Golf Course that winds its way thru this neighborhood.

Of course there is always taking the ferry over to Cozumel……the town has more shopping….but if that is not your thing you must rent a jeep or a old convertible beetle…and do the island drive…..please bring your snorkel gear (if not they will rent it to you) you can make several stops around the island and just get in the water and snorkel lots to see just off the shore….there are a few little restaurants / bars along the route and a couple are in small little bays that offer a great spot to just putter in the water…very relaxing….it was very easy to find your way around Cozumel in the rental car.
Lots to discover yet….but we already know lots to do and see besides just hanging out at our beautiful condo.”

After receiving a message from friends about the Playa del Carmen real estate region and the local attractions, I was very happy.  It was good to be reminded of how lucky all of us are to be living in an area that is so full of natural beauties.  The parks, the ruins, the shopping, restaurants are all top of the line attractions.  And, no matter how many times a day you see the beautiful turquoise waters, it still is an amazing natural site that makes you stare in awe.
