Mexico Retirement Destination in Michoacan

Linda Neil and I share ideas and advice in our one day tour with realtors®  networking session in the “Glimpse of Michoacan, the Real México!”.

Mexico retirement options have been growing as a more viable option and interest over the past various years.  With Mexico real estate market growing along the coastal regions, many people over look the wonderful lake front and low costs of living in the interior sections of this country too.  Why is the Morelia real estate market of interest and why is Michoacán unique and why should a broker be interested in this state as a top Mexico retirement option? John Glaab from La Paz and Puerto Vallarta has compiled an interesting list of items which stand out:

  • Michoacán, the world’s avocado capital  abounds with agricultural richness
  • Rich in culture and crafts, taught by the Spanish clergyman Don Vasco
  • Great Spring Like Climate throughout the year
  • Morelia, is a five hour distance to Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo
  • The state has a strong infrastructure base with many  high speed roadways
  • Morelia has many cultural events and festivals
  • The meseta Purepecha is rich in tradition and indigenes culture
  • The deepest lake in Mexico is Lake Zirahuen
  • Lake Patzcuaro has an Island with a statue of Morelos a Mexican patriot, that is taller than the Statue of Liberty
  • The state has the  first hospital for Indians in the new world and the oldest music school
  • On the coast, the port of Lazero Cardenas is quickly outpacing L.A. and Long Beach
  • Michoacan has its own special Mexican cuisine
  • The village of Paracho produces world class guitars and violins
  • 6,000 extinct volcanoes exist in Michoacán
