The bright colors found everywhere in Mexico – in the markets, the food, the clothes, etc. – are more than just a cultural tradition; they are the reflection of the warm and lively culture which we experience every day living here.
This is just as true with the beautiful colors in which Mexican homes are painted – especially colonial Mexican homes, which combine the long-standing tradition of brightly painted homes with the living culture of Mexico today. This is our fourth post on Hacienda del Rio near the beach in Playa del Carmen, and how it incorporates th best of colonial style into modern homes.
Colonial Cities
Walking through a colonial city, you feel like every day is a sunny one – and usually they are! The beautiful archways and rugged stonework is highlighted by bright oranges, blues and deep reds. In Mexico it’s simply taken for granted that homes will be brightly painted, and the beauty of this fact is most visible in the country’s rich colonial tradition.
Colonial HomesÂ
A step above living in a city with brightly colored colonial homes is actually living in one of these homes; like walking through the narrow streets of one of these charming cities, the colors of the home make a day cheerful, light-hearted and relaxed. In Mexico, “traditional†can add to a laid-back lifestyle rather than stand in contrast to it.
Modern Homes with Colonial Style
As I’ve pointed out in previous posts about Hacienda del Rio, an ideal combination is the convenience, layout and infrastructure (wiring, drainage, water, etc.) of a modern home combined with the colors, design and best features of colonial architecture. With colors, Hacienda del Rio also makes this same combination.
One of the best points is that in Hacienda del Rio, you get to choose the colors that are best suited to your tastes during the design stage and have a beautiful, customized colonial home delivered to you the day you get the key!
