A friend of mine shared some pictures with me of New Years Eve here in Playa del Carmen. As you may guess, the daytime was warm and sunny as always:

The sunset over the beach and town was beautiful:

The fireworks weren’t what you get in a big city, but they were pretty nice for a town this size (my friend’s cell phone camera doesn’t really do them justice):

As Tom pointed out a couple of days ago, celebrating New Years In Mexico is a mix of the familiar and some distinctly Mexican elements. But one point that is truly different is that on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, people can enjoy warm, sunny weather out on the beach!
