KKIS (Keeping Kids in School) is a program in the Playa del Carmen area which offers school supplies, such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils and crayons for children from low-income families. It helps to keep them in school by eliminating the expense of these necessary items; while for us, these expenses are minimal, for these families they can be considerable impact on their budget, and can even prevent them from putting kids in school! For this same reason, KKIS is a perfect way for expats to give back to their community, either by volunteering or by donating.
