Two of the most outstanding examples of markets for Mexico condos for sale are Cancun and Puerto Vallarta.  While both offer some of the finest beachfront lifestyles in excellent condos, the two are distinct in lifestyle and atmosphere.  The following are a few of the differences and similarities.

Cancun real estate is defined by the newness and modern-ness of the city.  Cancun was founded only 40 years ago, planned and designed for tourism and expatriate real estate buyers; in both areas, it has risen to prominence not only in Mexico, but well beyond, gaining a well-deserved reputation as the quintessential beachfront tourist destination in the western hemisphere.

The success of tourism in the area has brought many benefits for real estate buyers.  The road infrastructure laid when creating the city continues to provide easy, fast access to any of the areas where condos can be found along the beachfront.  Residents enjoy access to large malls, big-screen movies in English, international stores like Walmart and Home Depot, state-of-the-art hospitals that provide top level service at excellent prices and many, many activities.  These included anything from visiting the nearby site of Mayan Pyramids at Chichen Itza to diving in the world’s second largest coral reef or in an underwater museum.

The condos themselves are defined by modern luxury and splendid views over the white beaches and turquoise blue Caribbean Sea.

Puerto Vallarta real estate most certainly offers the new and the modern, but unlike Cancun, it grew up around a small fishing village, where an early American expat community was already growing before the large numbers of tourists showed up.  The area was made famous on a large scale internationally during the 50’s when various Hollywood movies were filmed here and the famous romance of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.

The condo lifestyle in Puerto Vallarta is defined by both its past and its present.  Most condo owners enjoy taking a stroll down the boardwalk with its international restaurants and bars, and through the quaint old town with cobble-stone roads and little white homes.  They also enjoy shopping in modern malls, or a good game of golf on a professional course.

While Cancun offers the refreshing morning scene of the sun rising over the Caribbean, which many residents enjoy while sipping a coffee and reading the morning paper, Puerto Vallarta offers the splendid sunsets of the Pacific, which many enjoy walking on the beach, or with a bear at their favorite bar.

Both Cancun and Puerto Vallarta offer an excellent lifestyle, albeit with their own distinct flavor.  The biggest difficulty for anyone who has been to both places is choosing between them.
