You’re looking for a Mexico condos for sale on the Caribbean coast – the stretch running from Cancun south along the beautiful beaches to Tulum. They’re all the same, right? Well, not exactly. A brief review of Cancun real estate and Tulum real estate will show that there is a noticeable distinction between the two in the lifestyle which they offer.
The following are some of the ways in which condos in the two areas offer a distinct lifestyle. Some of the items listed below are possible in both locations, but one tends to define one location’s style.
• High rise – Low rise – In Cancun, high-rise condos along the beach define the urban image. Those who buy there enjoy splendid views and generally a large number of amenities within their complex. The look and feel of life in one of these condos is “urban” – relaxed beachfront urban, mind you. While low-rise condos back from the beach are possible, they are not the defining real estate type. In Tulum, on the other hand, low-rise condos are the only option; high-rises are simply not permitted. This feature is closely tied to the factors mentioned below, namely nature and beachfront.
• Beachfront location - As already mentioned, the favorite in Cancun are the high-rises directly overlooking the beach. Generally, the condos in Tulum are not located directly on the beachfront, and instead the residents enjoy the small-town, natural surroundings and walking or biking distance to the beach. The concept in Cancun has been to give residents direct beachfront access by constructing directly on it, and making it more available through high-rises; in Tulum, the idea has been to preserve the beachfront, and give everyone easy and short access.
• City – Small town – As already mentioned, the defining concept of Cancun is urban. This is not only image, but also lifestyle. Because of the low-rise concept, Tulum is developing with a small-town lifestyle. While the difference is currently closely related to the size, as Tulum grows it has made plans to retain this atmosphere through planned development.
• Modern convenience – Nature & Sustainability – Since Cancun has been around longer, it has more stores and hospitals, a large airport and many other services. Those who choose Tulum currently have to drive a bit further to get to most of these (1 hr to Playa del Carmen) but they enjoy a very through integration of nature and sustainable concepts into the community and real estate development.
