Everyone imagines living in luxury on the beachfront, but in reality, we all know this is only available for the rich, right?


Affordable Playa del Carmen condos in nice gated communities allow Americans and Canadians on lower budgets to enjoy a very comfortable lifestyle near the beach with year round warm weather – the kind of lifestyle we normally imagine is only for the rich.  To make it clear what we are talking about, let’s spell out exactly what we mean by “affordable” and by “luxury” and why this is possible.

Definition – Affordable

These days it is important to define this term.  People like to throw around the word affordable for everything from a run-down shack that they should probably pay someone to take, to million dollar homes; “It’s a much better deal that that home next door for two million,” sellers will often point out, but nevertheless, most of us simply don’t have a million dollars to throw around, even if it is a great deal.

Fortunately, these condos in Playa del Carmen don’t fall into either of these categories.  They are beautiful properties in nice locations, and they really are affordable - less than $150,000 US, to put it into concrete terms.  To make this even more affordable, there are various financing options to consider, such as bank mortgages.

What Do We Mean by “Luxury”?

It is equally important to define the word “luxury,” since it also gets thrown around too much.  The following items are features you as a buyer can expect:

  • A very nice, spacious and comfortable unit
  • Open-concept design
  • Nice terraces and balconies
  • A pool and large shared patio
  • Perhaps a gym area
  • Gated community location
  • Bike trails and green areas
  • Walking distance to the beach
  • A short drive to downtown and shopping areas
  • Potential for increasing value in the near future

Whether you define these items as “luxury” or not, few people would complain about having them at the price offered.

Why is This Possible?

Finally, this leads to the question of “Why?” Isn’t there some catch?  The reason for this is that the communities where these condos are available are new.  Development is still in the early stages.  Streets and walkways are complete as well as all utilities, but there are only a handful of developments and prices remain low as long as everyone’s waiting for things to fill up; this is already happening in a number of neighborhoods, but it’s not yet visually obvious.  When it does become visually apparent, prices are likely to rise as well.
