Playa del Carmen Real Estate Tips - A Home for the Project-Lover

The most popular option in Playa del Carmen real estate, and the most available one, is the nice, ready to use condos for sale; after that there are good number of complete homes as well, many times sold furnished.  Yet, there are also a good number of options for those who enjoy projects and like to save money, including fixer-upper Playa del Carmen homes for sale and Playa del Carmen land for sale.

 

Fixer-Upper Homes

Playa del Carmen is not a market which people usually associate with fixer-uppers, mostly because the community is so no, really only having grown since the 90s.    Yet gentrifying communities and some special opportunities in established expat neighborhoods present buyers with excellent savings and interesting projects.

 

Near downtown there are a couple of lower-income communities that were established during the 90s.  While they have been rather un-finished, little by little paving, sidewalks, urban drainage and other infrastructure has been completed.  A growing number of local residents have also completed large, beautiful homes.  Most importantly, they are a 5-10 minute walk from the beach.  New hotels are appearing along the beachfront and during early 2012 a beautiful new, palm-lined access road with a bike trail and benches was completed.  The community looks ripe for gentrification, and fixer-upper homes are still available for excellent prices.

 

Sometimes there are also homes available in established expat communities (even places as ritzy as Playacar!) where the home was neglected or a renovation was never completed.  These can also be obtained for surprisingly low prices.

Land for Sale

Land is likewise given little attention.  Part of the reason for this is that land in the downtown area or in the most established communities has become rather pricy.  Yet, in the same communities mentioned above, there are still large lots for sale for reasonable prices.

 

Another option to be considered is that of new gated communities that focus on land sales.  There are a few of these available a walk away from new shopping centers in new up-and-coming areas.  The lots are not only affordable, but promise to increase in value as an increasing number of upscale developments and complexes show up.

 

Any buyer who is interested in living in beachfront paradise, yet they enjoy a personal project that also presents savings will find a good number of excellent options in Playa del Carmen.
