One of the very attractive points about Mexico real estate is the variety of styles that are available.  Yucatan real estate is an excellent example of this point, since within a relatively small area, there are very different property styles available appealing to many different buyers.

It is entirely possible for 5 different buyers to have 5 fairly different impressions of what real estate and lifestyle and Yucatan is all about.  The following are the main varieties of real estate styles available in the Yucatan area.

Colonial Homes – The city of Merida has one of Latin America’s largest colonial historic center areas, and it is the second largest in Mexico.  Many expats are drawn to the straight, narrow streets, the old churches, the colorful facades of the classic homes and the lush, green parks.  The city abounds with culture, offering music, art and history as a part of day to day life.  Local markets make quaint, colonial charm a part of everyday life, while also offering a very low cost of living.

Small-town Homes – North of Merida, there are small towns along the beachfront.  While the expat communities in these towns are small, they are close-knit and the locals are very welcoming.  Homes can be found throughout the town, and the beach, as well as the shopping and small restaurants and cafes of downtown are always just a walk away.  All the big-city conveniences (malls, sports complexes) are less than 30 minutes away in Merida.

Beachfront Condos – These same towns offer beachfront condos in the style of the main tourist destinations along Mexico’s Caribbean coast, in individual complexes and small gated communities.  These offer close access to the small town lifestyle with an upscale, exclusive atmosphere.

Luxury Beachfront Homes – Out of Town – There are beautiful homes just outside of these towns, along the beachfront with direct access to virtually private beachfront areas and to nicely maintained roads leading into town.  These homes are comfortable with spacious lots and offer a very quiet and peaceful lifestyle.

Countryside Estates – One of the most unique and attractive real estate options of the Yucatan is the countryside estates, whether these are the old hacienda’s of the former upper class, or newer hobby farms.  Large lots in the country are very well priced and offer a relaxing place to enjoy the area’s warm weather as a part of a relaxing, every-day lifestyle.; Mexico's Leading Network of Specialists for Finding and Purchasing Mexican Properties Safely
