Earlier in 2012 we discovered one of this year’s most exciting opportunities for condos near the beachfront in Mexico – Awa condos, Playa del Carmen.  Consider some of the following reasons why we choose this as one of our Top Developments, and think about how much you would pay for a condo like this.  At the end, we’ll tell you the prices.  You’ll be pleasantly surprised.  (Don’t cheat.)

Nice Gated Community – Awa is located in El Cielo, a nice new community just a couple of minutes north of central Playa del Carmen.  Its gated entrance is manned 24 hours, added extra safety to an area which is already one of the safest in Mexico and safer than many parts of the U.S.  It also reduces unnecessary traffic.  The community has tree-lined boulevards and many green areas.  There are bike trails running throughout.  Exiting homes and condos are upscale, and bylaws ensure that new ones will be as well.

A Walk to the Beach – The beach – Xcalacoco, one of the nicest in the area, combining nature, resorts and a rustic old pier - is a reasonable walk away from Awa.  Riding bike is also ideal, and there is good car access and parking spaces.

Good Design in Complex – The complex is visually appealing, both from the inside and out.  The common area includes a pool, a lounge area and nicely landscaped gardens. The balconies of the condos have views of the beautiful common area.

Well-Planned Units – The units are well laid out with an open-concept plan.  They are spacious and comfortable.  There are also a variety of unit styles, including penthouses, garden apartments and standalone villas.  The finishes are high quality offering visual appeal and practicality.

Close to Shopping, Downtown – Playa del Carmen has 2 large shopping malls as well as a new shopping center with a Walmart and many other new stores going in.  Because of some recent highway bridges and new road connections, these, as well as downtown’s thriving tourist district are a short drive away (about 10 minutes.)

Close to Highway and Airport – Although you can’t tell from inside El Cielo, the entrance opens right to the main highway heading to Cancun’s international airport, which is only about 35-40 minutes away, all out-of-town driving.  This is one of the country’s best connected international airports and flights are very well priced.

So, what price would you guess for these condos?  Try under $150,000 USD!  Surprised?  We sure were.
