When you decide to invest in Tulum real estate, you might will need to decide which real estate type is most suitable to your needs; if your final goal is to own a single family home in Tulum, you basically have two choices – buy Tulum land for sale and build, or a buy a completed Tulum home for sale.  Both have their own advantages, and the benefits of each will help you decide which is best for your situation.

The Advantages of Land

Land is currently the most popular investment option in Tulum, and this is for a good reason.  Since the town is small, there is plenty of land near the town, beachfront and up-and-coming development areas. Since the town’s boom has already begun, developers are opening up land options that include all infrastructure and are ready to build on.  The developments also often include plans for upscale shopping areas with nice cafes and restaurants.

On the other hand, there are also raw land options, where it’s simply a piece of jungle for sale, and buyers are responsible for making the lot useful or waiting for future expansion.

A nice option in between is that of eco-lots, which offer sustainable living on large lots that are meant to be kept largely wooded.  The price of such lots is excellent considering there very large size, and there are excellent architects experienced in building eco-friendly homes.

Tulum homes for sale

The advantage of considering a completed home in Tulum is that, like in other places, you can enjoy use of the home immediately.  The distinct advantage in Tulum is that since tourism is also on the rise, there is currently a demand for vacation rentals and a very low supply of condos or homes on the market.  Those who buy a complete property can get their foot in the door of this rental income before too many other investors catch on, establishing a rental base and reputation ahead of the game.

Homes are also available in a variety of price ranges, locations and styles, ranging from traditional, Mexican-style homes in the town center to completed eco-homes.  Buying a home gives you less control over your investment project in a certain sense, but it gives you more direct and immediate access to enjoying the benefits of your investment with minimal effort on your part.
