For many Puerto Vallarta real estate buyers, there are two main location options – beachfront and hillside. Each has its own advantages and appeal. The following is an overview of each.
Beachfront real estate in Puerto Vallarta has had a long-standing appeal among Americans and Canadians. The following are some of the points of appeal for this location.
Direct beach access – Of course, beachfront properties have direct access to Puerto Vallarta’s lovely beaches. Residents can walk out from their front door bare-footed, directly onto the soft, warm sand.
Views – Besides living directly on the beach, the views of the same sand and blue water can be enjoyed from balconies and terraces. The views also include the splendid sunsets over the Pacific and the distant arms of land wrapping around the Bay of Banderas where the city is located.
Close to amenities – Because of appeal for tourism, the beachfront areas tend to be the ones with the most restaurants, bars, cafes, galleries, etc. Those who live on the beachfront can generally walk to just about anything else they like.
Rental potential – For the same reasons, vacationers will notice and prefer condos and homes directly on the beachfront as their first (or perhaps even only) options for rental. This can offer potential for income for owners who do not use their property year round.
Puerto Vallarta Condos for Sale on the Hillside
Because of the area’s hilly landscape, the hillsides have also been a favorite, offering similar but distinct appeal.
Views – While this is a good point for the direct beachfront location, it is an excellent point for the hillside; in addition to the views of the Bay, the fiery sunsets and often beaches, hillside locations enjoy views of the picturesque town and the surrounding mountains.
Prices – Prices for all real estate in Puerto Vallarta compare very favorably to similar properties in similar locations (which are hard to find in general;) yet, the hillside tends to offer lower prices since it is further back from the beach for properties that are just as nice.
Close to Amenties – While the heart of the tourism activity may be a little further away, many hillside locations are also a walk away from shops and restaurants downtown. (Taxi rides, which are very affordable here, are useful for the way back up!)
Both beachfront and hillside in Puerto Vallarta are very attractive choices. Each buyer’s tastes and needs will have to determine the choice between them, yet we can say with confidence that they will be delighted with whichever they choose!
