Cancun Real Estate – Beachfront Condos vs. Downtown Homes

If you are considering Cancun real estate, one of the choices you’ll have to make is whether to buy a Cancun condo for sale or a Cancun home for sale.  While they share the warm weather, splendid beaches and low cost of living of Cancun, they actually offer fairly distinct lifestyles.  Consider the following descriptions of each to help you decide between the two.

Cancun Condos

The lifestyle most people will associate with Cancun is the one offered by beachfront condos.  Cancun’s famous hotel strip stretched out along 30 miles of beachfront, bending around a large lagoon that separates it from the city offers a lifestyle that is not too dissimilar from that enjoyed by many vacationers from around the world every year.

High-rise condos offer views of very white sand, which is also warm and soft to walk on, as well as the bright turquoise water of the Caribbean.  Many of these condos will offer gyms, pools and lounge areas, as well as direct access to the beach.  Nearby, there are restaurants, bars, beach clubs and shopping malls, with all sorts of stores such as clothing and jewelry.

The prices for these condos are surprisingly accessible.  Most qualify for mortgages in Mexico, and many hold appeal for vacation rentals.  Living in a beachfront condo in Cancun is truly living out the vacation dream of many people around the world, with the difference that it’s day to day life!

There are also condos in the downtown area, but that area is more distinct for its homes for sale.

Cancun Homes

While some homes can be found virtually on the beachfront for good prices, the best deals on homes in Cancun are downtown.  Residents of the downtown area will enjoy the same beaches in only a 10 minute drive (taxis are cheap for anyone who prefers not to own a car.)

Homes downtown are appealing since they can be on quiet residential streets, everything from Walmart to large-screen movie theaters, from local markets to European cafes, will be a walk away around the corner.

One option which more Americans and Canadians have been choosing is that of fixer upper homes in Cancun’s downtown.  The prices are excellent and they offer good investment value for anyone who likes a renovation project.

As mentioned above, while these two options share the warm weather, beautiful beaches and modern services of Cancun, at accessible prices, the distinction between them usually makes the choice fairly easy!
