Owning real estate on the beachfront would be a dream-come-true for many people. Yet, most people feel that it’s an option out of their reach. The good news is that Mexico land for sale on the beachfront is available for good prices; one area where well-priced (and attractive) beachfront land can be found for a good price is on the Yucatan Peninsula.
While prices for land directly on the beachfront in the famous tourist areas has gone up with demand, not that far away, there are nice areas where buyers can enjoy basic conveniences, a comfortable lifestyle and much lower prices. Two such areas are Costa Maya real estate and Campeche real estate, on the opposite sides of the Yucatan Peninsula.
Costa Maya is the southern part of the Caribbean coast of the Peninsula, a few hours south of the more famous Riviera Maya area which starts with Cancun and ends with Tulum. Costa Maya enjoys a bit of tourism of its own – mostly cruise ships that arrive in the town of Mahahual, but also some adventurous tourists who arrive in the areas further north and make their way south. The coast has a few sparsely populated villages and a small expat community where everyone knows each other. Life moves at a much slower pace, and although some things are less convenient (like having to shop at 2-3 smaller stores on grocery day,) it all becomes a relaxing part of a lifestyle where people simply don’t know the meaning of the world “rush.” What’s more, beautiful lots, directly on the virgin beachfront are surprisingly inexpensive!
Across the Peninsula is the state called Campeche. Like in Costa Maya, tourism is still just a budding phenomenon. Here, the buds of tourism take a different shape. There is a new golf and marina resort community going in with luxury condos; what the people buying these condos don’t know is that just down the road there are large beachfront lots available for less than a third of the price, and the beach is actually nicer! The area also boasts a beautiful colonial city and a number of small towns that are investing into making their waterfront nice places to hang out and spend time in.
In both of these areas, the average American or Canadian can buy a lot directly on the sand of the beach, have a home built and enjoy beachfront relaxation as their day to day life!
