Mexico has thousands of miles of coastline, and much of this is beautiful beaches; yet, when it comes to communities that have shown up on the “international radar” land directly on the beachfront is usually hard to come by and expensive.  Yet, for those who know where to look Mexico land for sale on the beachfront is available and for good prices.  The following are a couple of examples of communities to consider on the Yucatan Peninsula.

Costa Maya Real Estate

Costa is the last undeveloped stretch of the Mexican Caribbean; the Mexican Caribbean starts about 4 -5 hours north in America’s beachfront vacation destination – Cancun.  Heading south past Playa del Carmen and Tulum, there is a very large biosphere reserve (Sian Kaan) after which begins Costa Maya; Costa Maya is a series of virtually untouched beachfront with a few villages and residential communities, the largest of which is the small town of Mahahual.

In this area, you are more likely to have to slow down on the road for goats crossing than for traffic.  The area is quiet, very natural, rustic and relaxed in a way that you can’t understand until you’ve been here.  Basic stores and a few restaurants and bars exist in Mahahual, and larger supermarkets, hospitals, an airport, etc. are about an hour and a half away in Chetumal.  Land directly on the beach is plentiful and available for surprisingly low prices.

Campeche Real Estate

On the other side of the Yucatan Peninsula is the state of Campeche; the beachfront stretches between the state’s two cities, Campeche and Ciudad del Carmen.  The city of Campeche is a beautiful, very clean and very well kept up colonial city directly on the beachfront.  Having its roots in ancient Mayan times, the current city was built during the Spanish colonial era and was surrounded by large fort walls to protect against pirate raids from the Caribbean; much of the fort walls still stand, marking off blocks upon blocks of beautiful architecture, colorful homes, old churches and parks filled with trees, flowers, benches and walkways.

Nearby there are stretches of beautiful beaches where lots large enough to build a comfortable home can be found for excellent prices.  What’s more, the appearance of a marina, two golf courses and corresponding upscale real estate suggests that tourism and real estate may be taking off; this makes for good investment potential, especially on beachfront lots.

These are just 2 examples – 2 very good examples of where to look for low priced beachfront lots in attractive locations.
