Laughs for a Good Cause<\/strong><\/p>\n

Are you ready to laugh for a good cause? The 4th Annual Akumal Comedy Festival will take place on April 14 – April 18, 2015 in the heart of Mexico’s beautiful Riviera Maya.<\/p>\n

This completely non-profit comedy festival will feature over a dozen professional comedians from the United States and seven Mexican comedians performing in eight shows across Tulum, Playa del Carmen, and Akumal, over a 5 days period.<\/p>\n

The festival comes to a close with a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Best of the Fest\u00e2\u20ac\u009d lineup show in Akumal on April 18th<\/sup>, which will also feature live music, regional dancers, street vendors and artists, as well as plenty of food and beverages.<\/p>\n

The Akumal Comedy Festival is the brain child of Grammy Award winning president and founder of Stand Up! Records Dan Schlissel, and comedian\/actor Gus Lynch (Saving Silverman, North Country and I Spy) who seek to showcase the finest professional and rising stars in stand-up comedy, as well as the people, restaurants, and businesses of the area.<\/p>\n

This year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Akumal Comedy Festival headliners are Darryl Lenox, Maggie Faris and Derek Sheen. Other comedians who are scheduled to appear are Lisa Alvarado, Danny Lobell, Chad Daniels (Chad has been on Conan, the Late Late show on CBS with Craig Kilbourn and Craig Ferguson and Comedy Central\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Live at Gotham), Tommy Ryman (one of the semi-finalist on NBC\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Last Comic Standing), JT Habersaat (JT has appeared on numerous television and film projects, including Comedy Central\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Upright Citizen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Brigade\u00e2\u20ac\u009d), \u00c2\u00a0Luke Bugeaud, Al Klemick, Craig Norton, Jeff Pfoser, Mike Stanley, Colleen Doyle Justice, Joe Staats and Chris Maddock. The Spanish performers will be El Cojo Feliz, Roberto Andrade, Daniel Sosa, Luiki Wiki, Erick Vargas, Alex Roga and Tony Gabriel.<\/p>\n

The Red Cross is an internationally recognized aid organization.\u00c2\u00a0 In every country across the globe, the iconic Red Cross on a white background has come to signify hope.\u00c2\u00a0 The Red Cross exists to provide first response medical assistance to those in need.<\/p>\n

What makes the Red Cross in Mexico different, is that they do it completely without financial assistance from the government.\u00c2\u00a0 Each chapter is responsible for its own fundraising, and relies entirely on the generosity of donors and the dedication of their volunteers.\u00c2\u00a0 Without the Red Cross in Mexico, many who suffer life-threatening injuries would be deprived of any help.\u00c2\u00a0 The Red Cross in Tulum and Playa del Carmen are the first responders to accidents, medical emergencies, and disasters.\u00c2\u00a0 They operate without charge, offering lifesaving medical treatment to anyone who needs it, and are a lifeline to many of the poor local communities.<\/p>\n

Along with emergency response, the Red Cross promotes preventative medicine through community outreach programs, and by offering lifesaving workshops to adults and children. It is through the strength of volunteers and the generosity of donors that makes this all possible.<\/p>\n
