But certain times of the day during the hottest months, people need to escape the high temperatures. If you are an inexperienced traveler, have younger children or are an older adult, you need to be aware of the dangers of heat and sunstroke. When retreating from the days heat, there are ways in keeping the Caribbean heat out of your home.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>It all starts first thing in the morning<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We all like our morning sun. If your home has a northern or western exposure, welcoming the morning light can be a great start of the day. However, if your home faces the southern or eastern hemisphere, you might want to considered closing the drapes and\/or shutters during the morning and\/or afternoon hours. Keep ceiling and other portable fans in areas that you spend the most time in. When the hottest part of the day arrives, you can turn on the air conditioner but keep the thermostats set at 79 or 80 degrees (Fahrenheit).<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Air conditioning<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Air conditioning is one of the most obvious solutions. Utilizing air conditioning can drive utilities bills sky-high. However, there are times during the day when it is unavoidable. Keeping your electric bill within a reasonable amount and maintaining a comfortable temperature is don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t wait until your home is completely intolerable. Before the temperature reaches an unbearable level, set your AC\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s thermostat to 80 and adjust from there. Make sure the windows and door frames are sealed and the weather stripping isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t peeling away. When running the air conditioner, keep doors closed to room(s) that are not being used.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Wearing appropriate clothing is a plus<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a known fact that clothing made from linen works best in warmer climates. It allows heat to escape from the body and wicks away moister much quicker than other fabrics. Wearing breathable shorts and footwear can also assist in keeping you comfortable during extreme heat.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion<strong>,<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0using common sense will not only keep your home at a reasonable temperature, but your electric bill manageable.
