However, sometimes it happens, and we need to be prepared. This is a list of emergency tips and numbers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Hopefully, suppose you are at a hotel. In that case, you can go to the front desk or call the operator, and I am sure they have all the information to contact the correct number readily available according to your emergency. Hotels can also arrange appointments with local medical practitioners or even help with the language barrier.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Note that the hotels are not responsible for paying the doctors\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 fees. Although they are included in some all-inclusive resorts, you better check first if that is the case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you need urgent care, then the best option is often the nearest hospital. In some places, ambulances may not be standard. Use whatever form of transportation you find to get to a hospital.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19743\" src=\"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/pexels-pixabay-263402.jpg\" alt=\"Medical Emergency Traveling or Living in Mexico 2\" width=\"640\" height=\"423\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/pexels-pixabay-263402.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/pexels-pixabay-263402-300x198.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Usually, the embassy is able to provide you with the following services:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Help you contact your insurance company.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Provide a<a href=\"http:\/\/www.anhp.org.mx\/directorio.php?art=eventualityinmx12321&amp;web=blog\"> list of hospitals<\/a>, clinics, or physicians.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00c2\u00a0Contact your medical doctor, with your authorization, in Canada or US and assist them in discussing your medical issues with the local treating physician.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Contact your next of kin to make decisions in case of incapacity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Aid with medical evacuation and safe transfer, including liaison with service providers.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">However, please note that the Canadian or US governments do not:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Pay your hospital and medical bills.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Pay for air ambulance, medical evacuations, or other similar commercial services that you may need.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Make decisions about your medical care.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Interfere in your medical care.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Provide medical or legal advice.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">US and Canadian Embassies\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The main embassy is in M\u00c3\u00a9xico City, but they will address you to their consular offices in other cities in case you need to contact the US consular offices or the\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/mx.usembassy.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">US embassy in Mexico<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you are Canadian, you may look for consular offices near you on the\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canadainternational.gc.ca\/mexico-mexique\/index.aspx?lang=eng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Canadian Embassy<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00c2\u00a0site. However, it is a good idea to enroll in the\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/step.state.gov\/step\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Smart Traveler Enrollment Program for US citizens<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00c2\u00a0and\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/travel.gc.ca\/travelling\/registration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Registration of Canadians Abroad<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Car Related Eventualities<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you want to bring your car and have car insurance, contact them before you come to Mexico to know what kind of coverage they have.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In case that you rent a car, some credit cards include the insurance, so you better make sure of that as well.
