{"id":3568,"date":"2011-06-01T21:24:04","date_gmt":"2011-06-02T03:24:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/temp-blog\/?p=3568"},"modified":"2017-08-30T11:18:02","modified_gmt":"2017-08-30T16:18:02","slug":"after-your-mexico-real-estate-purchase-access-funds-from-back-home-through-atms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/after-your-mexico-real-estate-purchase-access-funds-from-back-home-through-atms\/","title":{"rendered":"After Your Mexico Real Estate Purchase \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Access Funds from Back Home through ATMS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While working with your agent to complete your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/\">Mexico real estate<\/a> purchase, you will also want to start planning various parts of your life in Mexico.\u00c2\u00a0 One of the most important is having access to your funds from back home.<\/p>\n<p>There are number of options to consider; eventually, when you will want to know the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/mexico-laws\/\">Mexico laws<\/a> on setting up a bank account, and probably use wire transfers to move funds directly to this account.\u00c2\u00a0 Wire transfers are considered the most secure way of moving funds.\u00c2\u00a0 This process will also be useful and necessary during the real estate purchase process.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" title=\"Mexico real estate atm\" src=\"http:\/\/i255.photobucket.com\/albums\/hh138\/beatlo\/Banks\/aa8Mexicoatm01-06-11.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"251\" \/>Before you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve set up your own Mexican bank account, however, and for simple access to smaller amounts of funds one method to use is simple ATM withdrawals.\u00c2\u00a0 The following are some of the benefits of having this option in Mexico.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It can be free.<\/strong> Banks in the U.S. and Canada have set up ATM agreements with banks in Mexico and other countries so you can withdraw cash from your home account at <strong><em>no service charge<\/em><\/strong>.\u00c2\u00a0 Before leaving for Mexico the first time, consult with your home bank to see if they have such an arrangement with a bank in Mexico.\u00c2\u00a0 For example, if you buy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/playadelcarmen-real-estate\/\">Playa del Carmen real estate<\/a>, various Scotiabank ATMs allow free withdrawals from Scotiabank Canada or Bank of America accounts.\u00c2\u00a0 Banamex ATMs allow free withdrawals from Citibank accounts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Good exchange rates are offered.<\/strong> If you withdraw in pesos, you would only need to check the current exchange rate from your card.\u00c2\u00a0 These are often posted online and are not necessarily the same as the ones posted in the banks in Mexico \u00e2\u20ac\u201c in fact, they are usually better.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s available everywhere in Mexico.<\/strong> International card networks have allowed the possibility to withdraw cash at just about anywhere.\u00c2\u00a0 The banks which have the free withdrawal arrangements are among the most common; in addition to these, there are many professional banks with secure ATMs throughout the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s secure if used properly.<\/strong> Like back home, you have use common sense \u00e2\u20ac\u201c i.e. don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t withdraw from small machines in convenience stores or obscure locations \u00e2\u20ac\u201c but withdrawing from official machines in any of Mexico\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s modern banks is as secure as doing so back home.<\/p>\n<p>Before you first arrive to Mexico, make sure you explore this option, and know where you can withdraw money without charges.\u00c2\u00a0 Ask your agent to let you know if the bank ATM you need is located in that particular city and if it is convenient to get to.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Thomas Lloyd <\/strong>graduated from Purdue University Krannert School of Management with a degree in Management\/Financial Option Investments.
