\"\"Late in August, in the second stage of the development project for this town in the Lake Chapala real estate<\/a><\/span> area, officials opened the San Juan Cosal\u00c3\u00a1 boardwalk in Jocotepec, which cost seven million pesos, of which three million 875 thousand were provided by the State Government.<\/p>\n

Jocotepec lies on the western end of the Lake Chapala real estate<\/a><\/span> area.\u00c2\u00a0 The town is very historical, with its original settlement dating to 1361 when the area was first established by Nahua Indians.\u00c2\u00a0 The Indians were conquered in 1520 by a cousin of the famous Hernan Cortes, who conquered the Aztecs in the Mexico City area.\u00c2\u00a0 The Spanish settlement in Jocotepec began in 1529.\u00c2\u00a0 For many years, Jocotepec was a stop on the stagecoach line between Guadalajara and Mexico City.<\/p>\n

As a beautiful rustic village, Jocotepec appeals to visitors and residents alike, and offers a large variety of handicrafts, including hand-woven, flower-patterned sarapes.\u00c2\u00a0 This area of Lake Chapala real estate is known for the Mexican style villas with traditional courtyard gardens, and swimming pools.<\/p>\n

The new boardwalk will be an attraction for visitors, as well as a relaxing place for residents to spend a free afternoon.<\/p>\n
