In yesterday’s post<\/a>, I wondered if Mexico’s economy would outpace Brazil’s within the next decade or not; on Saturday, however, Mexico saw a different kind of rivalry against Brazil – one in which they came out on top; they defeated Brazil to win their first Olympic soccer gold medal, and their first gold medal in this year’s summer Olympics!\u00c2\u00a0 All Mexico real estate<\/a> owners and other expats can feel very proud of their team!<\/p>\n

Yesterday, August 11, 2012 was a momentous day in Mexico history. Mexico defeated Brazil 2 to 1, in an energy-filled soccer game at the 2012 Olympic games in London.<\/p>\n

This was Mexico\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s first gold medal of the Olympic games.<\/p>\n

Oribe Peralta scored the first goal of the game just 28 seconds in, then successfully added a second, which was the game-winning goal.<\/p>\n

Mexican President\u00c2\u00a0Felipe Calderon\u00c2\u00a0joined in the flood of congratulatory notes, saying via\u00c2\u00a0Twitter, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Gold for Mexico in soccer, a historic achievement for our country. We are happy and proud of our team.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Javier \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcEl Chicharito\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Hernandez, one of the most famous Mexican soccer player who plays for\u00c2\u00a0Manchester United, but not allowed to play for the Mexican Olympic squad, echoed Calderon\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s sentiments.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Viva Mexico,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Hernandez said via Twitter.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, the world saw Mexico in all its gold glory. \u00c2\u00a0Celebrations of the gold were in effect throughout the day. The MEXICO Report salutes Mexico on this record-breaking and historical achievement! \u00c2\u00a0Mil felicidades!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
