Most Americans and Canadians who buy Mexico real estate<\/a> will not need to be told to check how close the international airport is to their property.\u00c2\u00a0 However, there are some details about flights that you usually become aware of only as time goes on.\u00c2\u00a0 Investigating these points ahead of time can save you a headache later on.<\/p>\n

\"PlaneIn most cases, provided that the property is an acceptable distance from an international airport, most other details can be worked around; but once again, it is that much easier if buyers know about them from the get-go!<\/p>\n

1. Direct Flights<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the easy one that everyone looks for; “I can get a direct flight from Chicago to Cozumel; great!”<\/p>\n

2. Connecting Flights<\/strong><\/p>\n

Even if you prefer only direct flights, you should investigate good stop-over flights.\u00c2\u00a0 Not only are there much\u00c2\u00a0 better prices sometimes, but in the case that the direct flight isn’t available on the required day, it’s good to have a back-up plan and know roughly how much it will cost and how long it will take.<\/p>\n

\"Plane3. Off-the-radar Hub?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Especially if you are buying in a less visited part of Mexico, you can investigate the possibility of flying into one of Mexico’s main tourist hubs, like Cancun, which usually offer very accessible prices, and then fly to your destination with a discount airline in Mexico like Volaris<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 This company often offers huge discounts during off-season sales, and even has some flights to the U.S.<\/p>\n

The trick with this is that it doesn’t show up on online ticket sales sites and travel agents may not pull them up either; however, besides offering another option, excellent discounts can be found to gain significant savings; and if it has to be a connecting flight anyway …<\/p>\n

4. Seasonal Flights & Pricing<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some locations offer more direct flights during high season; this can be a pleasant surprise, or an unpleasant one if you bought a direct ticket in December, but realize that there are no direct flights in July.\u00c2\u00a0 Check flight available throughout the year during your property search.<\/p>\n

\"PlanePricing can also fluctuate considerably from season to season.\u00c2\u00a0 However, since prices also tend to go down, and then up, as the date approaches, you will want to check in for ticket prices periodically throughout the year. Even if you’re not planning on flying, just seeing the patterns will help you plan.<\/p>\n

5. Ground Transportation to the Property<\/strong><\/p>\n

Buses, taxis and collective taxis (a minivan which will drop make its rounds to drop off various passengers at a lower rate) are all usually available.\u00c2\u00a0 Check the various pricing options, how often they go, and where they’ll drop you off.\u00c2\u00a0 Car rentals will also be available, usually with the option to drop off the car at your destination.<\/p>\n

Remember that if you know that there is an international airport near enough to your dream location in Mexico, most other details can be worked out – provided that you know about the details and plan accordingly.<\/p>\n
