Two decades ago, one of Mexico’s leading social critics proclaimed Los Angeles “the heart of the Mexican dream.” Pedro P. agreed, leaving behind his native Oaxaca for work as a gardener in the city’s San Fernando Valley. After 14 years as an undocumented immigrant, however, Pedro, age 44, is heading home at the end of April, drawn by an economic resurgence south of the border<\/strong> …<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The Times They Are a Changin’<\/strong><\/p>\n It then lists some of the reasons for this:<\/p>\n Hearing about economic growth in Mexico is one thing, but hearing that Mexicans are heading back south for\u00c2\u00a0better<\/strong><\/em> opportunities … this is unheard of!<\/p>\n Now wait for this; the article goes on to say that “more surprisingly, the growing sense of a Mexican turnaround is based not just on economic prospects but on greater confidence in the Mexican government, especially at a time when elected leaders in more-developed countries seem to be at a loss in dealing with long-term problems<\/em>.”<\/p>\n But Is it Only for Mexicans???<\/strong><\/p>\n But wait a minute – thriving economics, business and investment opportunities and politics that’s inspiring real change for the better, good economics and confidence in general. \u00c2\u00a0When’s the last time you felt that way about your country?<\/p>\n There’s Opportunity for You in Mexico<\/strong><\/p>\n Whether you like the politics of the U.S. (or Canada, or whichever country you’re from) or not, the point remains; Mexico has opportunities – perhaps better ones than those in the U.S.<\/p>\n Consider the case of the Mexicans going back home. \u00c2\u00a0They are returning because they can get a good job<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n Although wages are still lower in Mexico than in the U.S., people like Pedro are heading because they know they can live better on less.<\/p>\n This is also true for you. \u00c2\u00a0The difference is that you have more resources to live on, and will be able to live that much better.<\/p>\n This is true for retirees.<\/p>\n It is also true for most Americans and Canadians, many of whom would be able to invest in Mexico real estate<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0or business, and live out their dream.<\/p>\n Perhaps this could work for you. Despu\u00c3\u00a9s de 14 a\u00c3\u00b1os como inmigrante indocumentado, Pedro de 44 a\u00c3\u00b1os, regresa a casa al final del mes de abril seducido por el resurgimiento econ\u00c3\u00b3mico al sur de la frontera…”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n As\u00c3\u00ad comienza un art\u00c3\u00adculo recientemente publicado por el Wall Street Journal titulado “The Rise of the Aztec Tiger<\/a>” (El resurgimiento del tigre Azteca), sobre la creciente econom\u00c3\u00ada mexicana. La historia de Pedro es m\u00c3\u00a1s y m\u00c3\u00a1s com\u00c3\u00ban estos d\u00c3\u00adas. Seg\u00c3\u00ban la investigaci\u00c3\u00b3n del reportero que escribi\u00c3\u00b3 el art\u00c3\u00adculo, la tasa de inmigraci\u00c3\u00b3n hac\u00c3\u00ada los Estados Unidos est\u00c3\u00a1 alcanzando niveles de cero. Esto significa que la misma cantidad de mexicanos que cruzan la frontera hac\u00c3\u00ada el norte, la cruzan de regreso hac\u00c3\u00ada el sur.<\/p>\n Los tiempos est\u00c3\u00a1n cambiando.<\/strong><\/p>\n Algunas de las razones expuestas en el art\u00c3\u00adculo son las siguientes:<\/p>\n Leer sobre el creciente mercado econ\u00c3\u00b3mico nacional no es extra\u00c3\u00b1o, lo que s\u00c3\u00ad llama la atenci\u00c3\u00b3n es la noticia de que los inmigrantes est\u00c3\u00a9n regresando al sur.<\/p>\n \u00c2\u00bfQu\u00c3\u00a9 implica esto?<\/strong><\/p>\n Bien, las buenas noticias son que la econom\u00c3\u00ada nacional est\u00c3\u00a1 en su mejor momento, y que las expectativas a futuro son a\u00c3\u00ban mejores. No importa si est\u00c3\u00a1s de acuerdo o no con la pol\u00c3\u00adtica nacional o si tu partido pol\u00c3\u00adtico no fue electo, el pa\u00c3\u00ads en su esquema global est\u00c3\u00a1 en su mejor etapa. La etapa de la estabilidad. Para un pa\u00c3\u00ads y su mercado inmobiliario no puede haber mejores noticias. La estabilidad siempre representa confianza en inversi\u00c3\u00b3n y seguridad frente a los riesgos. Thus begins a recent article from the Wall Street Journal \u00c2\u00a0(The Rise of the Aztec Tiger<\/a>.) \u00c2\u00a0As the story goes on to say, Pedro’s story is becoming more and more common. \u00c2\u00a0“According to the Mexican Migration Project,” the writer reports, “the rate of undocumented emigration to the U.S. is nearing zero.” \u00c2\u00a0This means that as many Mexicans are leaving the U.S. as are arriving.<\/p>\n\n

So Mexicans are heading back south. \u00c2\u00a0So what? \u00c2\u00a0I guess this will make it easier for politicians trying to sort out the whole immigration thing.<\/p>\n
