Try Mexico Real Estate<!--:-->"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--:en--><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Prices are on the rise\" src=\"http:\/\/i255.photobucket.com\/albums\/hh138\/beatlo\/for%20sale\/AverageCalgaryhomesareover500K_zps844dfb15.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" \/>\u00c2\u00a0There was a time when people from \u00e2\u20ac\u0153out east\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (i.e. Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes) would head out west to enjoy a calmer life; and the plus \u00e2\u20ac\u201c everything, including homes, was a lot cheaper.<\/p>\n<p>Things have changed.\u00c2\u00a0 While Albert is still more laid-back than Ontario and many other parts of the country, studies have shown that the oil-driven economic boom has brought with it many of the same problems that people thought they had left behind \u00e2\u20ac\u201c stress, depression, busy lifestyle, etc.<\/p>\n<p>And the icing on top of the cake: prices for everything, including real estate, have shot up.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>No Longer Cheaper than Ontario<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A recent <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.calgaryherald.com\/2013\/05\/30\/may-a-record-month-for-calgary-real-estate\/\">report from the Calgary Herald<\/a> shows that Calgary specifically has not only caught up with its busier, more hectic eastern counterparts, but surpassed them.<\/p>\n<p>At $518,604, an average home in Calgary is now a full $100,000 above Ontario&#8217;s average, and seems to be on par with Canada&#8217;s 2nd most expensive city for real estate \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Toronto. (Vancouver, at #1, still leaves the rest in the dust, with an average home price of about $800,000 last I checked. See <a href=\"http:\/\/crea.ca\/content\/national-average-price-map\">CREA&#8217;s interactive map<\/a> of more stats.)<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Is it Time to Look to Mexico?\u00c2\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"Average Calgary homes are over $500 K\" src=\"http:\/\/i255.photobucket.com\/albums\/hh138\/beatlo\/for%20sale\/AverageCalgaryhomesareover500K_zps844dfb15.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Where do you look for low-priced real estate?\u00c2\u00a0 Well, you could look to the other prairie provinces.\u00c2\u00a0 I heard Winnipeg is pretty cheap these days.<\/p>\n<p>Or, if you like, beaches, year-round sunny, warm weather, beautiful places to discover, a rich and vibrant local culture and a low cost of living, you could consider Mexico.\u00c2\u00a0 If you have a million dollars to throw around, you might look to Vancouver.\u00c2\u00a0 Even in the rest of Canada an <strong><em>average<\/em><\/strong> vacation home is up around $1,000,000.<\/p>\n<p>And again, the icing on top of the cake: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/\">Mexico real estate<\/a> is very affordable.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What Are Mexico Real Estate Prices Like?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For example, if you are consider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/playadelcarmen-real-estate\/\">Playa del Carmen real estate<\/a>, for less than $220,0000 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c a full $50,000 less than the price of an <strong><em>average<\/em><\/strong> home in Winnipeg, and last I checked, there are no beaches in Winnipeg \u00e2\u20ac\u201c you could get:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/aUiKm\">beautiful 2-bedroom Mexican-style villa in a gated community<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/4gHml\">a stunning 3-bedroom home on a golf course<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/mpzq2\">a 3-bedroom villa in a very small, private complex near the beach<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Remember that this is also well under half the price of an average home in Calgary!\u00c2\u00a0 So, even if you bought a home for a fraction of its current value, that equity would give you plenty of space to buy a that vacation property in Mexico.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Or you could get a beachfront home in Playa del Carmen\" src=\"http:\/\/i255.photobucket.com\/albums\/hh138\/beatlo\/Playa%20del%20Carmen%20Homes%20%20Villas\/OryoucouldgetabeachfronthomeinPlayadelCarmen_zps8fd3d6b5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"174\" \/>\u00c2\u00a0So, Why Would You Move to Mexico?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>People I know from Alberta love Alberta.\u00c2\u00a0 But if you like it there, there&#8217;s no need to pack up and leave completely \u00e2\u20ac\u201c especially since the economy is a very strong point.<\/p>\n<p>A home in Mexico could be a vacation property, and then later for retirement.\u00c2\u00a0 Or it could be for an early retirement; the cost of living is <strong><em>much<\/em><\/strong> lower.<\/p>\n<p>Mexico&#8217;s thriving economy and booming tourism make real estate a good investment as well \u00e2\u20ac\u201c both for appreciation and for rental income.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>And the Final Word \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s economy is good \u00e2\u20ac\u201c especially Alberta&#8217;s \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and this has made the costs of living and real estate skyrocket.\u00c2\u00a0 Mexico&#8217;s economy is also very good; but in the case of Mexico, costs have stayed much steadier, especially compared to Canada.<\/p>\n<p>If Calgary is starting to look too expensive to you, take a look at Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<br \/>\n<strong>Thomas Lloyd<\/strong><em> graduated from Purdue University Krannert School of Management with a degree in Management\/Financial Option Investments.
