Today’s post is the first in a series to draw attention to some of the key aspects that make Hacienda del Rio such a charming choice \u00e2\u20ac\u201c modern homes in Playa del Carmen that offer a distinct colonial style.<\/p>\n

Stone is such a basic item \u00e2\u20ac\u201c it’s in the ground everywhere, seen every day.\u00c2\u00a0 Yet, when included in a home, it adds a basic sense and charm of the very basics and purity of nature; it can add visual appeal, relaxation and some of the best climate control to be found!<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Beauty of Stone\u00c2\u00a0\"\"<\/strong><\/p>\n

Both Mexico’s ancient peoples \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the Aztecs and Mayans, among many others \u00e2\u20ac\u201c used stone as their primary form of construction for important buildings, mostly because it was all they had.\u00c2\u00a0 Half knowingly, and half unknowingly, they created a beauty that would last for centuries to come, and that we still enjoy to come.<\/p>\n

Looking back to the elegance of colonial architecture, Americans living in Mexico can enjoy the same visual appeal both inside and outside their home by including stone walls, stone exterior finishes and exposed stone areas that contrast beautifully to the bright painted concrete and stucco that normally finishes walls in Mexico.<\/p>\n

Hacienda del Rio has achieved this, including stone as one of several colonial features in its comfortable, modern homes.<\/p>\n
