{"id":6948,"date":"2013-08-27T11:21:13","date_gmt":"2013-08-27T17:21:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/temp-blog\/?p=6948"},"modified":"2017-08-28T16:16:16","modified_gmt":"2017-08-28T21:16:16","slug":"how-much-are-property-taxes-in-mexico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/how-much-are-property-taxes-in-mexico\/","title":{"rendered":"<!--:en-->How Much Are Property Taxes in Mexico?<!--:-->"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--:en--><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Accounting the property taxes\" src=\"http:\/\/i255.photobucket.com\/albums\/hh138\/beatlo\/Property%20Taxes\/Accountingthepropertytaxes_zpsa9f6175e.jpg\" alt=\"Accounting the property taxes\" width=\"250\" \/>On a fairly regular basis \u00e2\u20ac\u201c in fact, whenever I write about the cost of living or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/\">property expenses in Mexico<\/a>, I emphasize that property taxes are virtually a non-expense in Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>However, it&#8217;s always necessary to see cold, hard numbers.<\/p>\n<p>While there are variables in the calculation, I find that property taxes are usually under 0.1% per year, often somewhere around 0.083%.<\/p>\n<p>So, for example, consider the following prices:<\/p>\n<p>Property Value <strong>$139,000<\/strong> \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Annual Taxes: <strong>$115<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Property Value <strong>$240,000<\/strong> \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Annual Taxes: <strong>$200<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now, think about that first property; for many people, their annual property tax would be less than <strong>their weekly groceries <\/strong>(although here in Mexico, weekly groceries will probably be a good deal lower), <strong>their monthly HOA fees<\/strong>, which are likewise very low in Mexico and many other items.<\/p>\n<p>Property taxes in Mexico are low \u00e2\u20ac\u201c very low.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<br \/>\n<strong>Thomas Lloyd<\/strong><em> graduated from Purdue University Krannert School of Management with a degree in Management\/Financial Option Investments.
