{"id":9608,"date":"2014-12-08T17:27:04","date_gmt":"2014-12-08T23:27:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/temp-blog\/?p=9608"},"modified":"2014-12-11T00:20:23","modified_gmt":"2014-12-11T06:20:23","slug":"new-time-zone-for-quintana-roo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/blog\/2014\/12\/new-time-zone-for-quintana-roo\/","title":{"rendered":"New Time Zone for Quintana Roo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I would like to thank the Deputies Chamber for this reform to the time zone of Quintana Roo, which will bring great benefits to the State\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, said Head of State, Roberto Borge Angulo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">December 5<sup>th<\/sup>, 2014 marked the voting of a fourth time zone to the country, which will apply only to some municipalities of Quintana Roo, including those where Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/tulum-real-estate\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Tulum are located<\/a>. The new time zone will come into effect next year once it is printed in the Official Federation Paper \u00e2\u20ac\u201c no specific date was given.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/s255.photobucket.com\/user\/beatlo\/media\/Otros\/RivieraMayaMap_zps182843b1.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/i255.photobucket.com\/albums\/hh138\/beatlo\/Otros\/RivieraMayaMap_zps182843b1.jpg\" alt=\" photo RivieraMayaMap_zps182843b1.jpg\" width=\"479\" height=\"232\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new time zone will keep Quintana Roo in \u00e2\u20ac\u0153summer time\u00e2\u20ac\u009d year-round, joining the rebel municipality of Felipe Carillo Puerto which has \u00e2\u20ac\u201c for 15 years \u00e2\u20ac\u201c refused to change their time zone during winter. This will put the state an hour ahead during summer and two hours ahead during winter from Mexico City, central time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Amongst the benefits that this new change will bring are:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Adding an extra hour of sun to the day which will result in reducing power usage. This translates to saving roughly 128 million USD \u00e2\u20ac\u201c especially for hotels \u00e2\u20ac\u201c in energy as up to 23,454 megawatts will be saved per hour.<\/li>\n<li>The state will become more competitive with Caribbean Islands such as the Dominican Republic, Barbados, Cuba and Puerto Rico, as they are managed in this same time zone.<\/li>\n<li>There will be greater airline connectivity to the USA and Canada, positioning Quintana Roo in the same time zone as 22 airports in the USA and 8 in Canada, allowing greater access.<\/li>\n<li>Transactions between the USA and Quintana Roo will also be benefited as banks will be working on the same time zone as the East Coast.<\/li>\n<li>The state will receive an increase in tourism economy, while reducing personnel cutouts during low season.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/s255.photobucket.com\/user\/beatlo\/media\/Otros\/mayan-riviera-beach_zpse2d519b2.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/i255.photobucket.com\/albums\/hh138\/beatlo\/Otros\/mayan-riviera-beach_zpse2d519b2.jpg\" alt=\" photo mayan-riviera-beach_zpse2d519b2.jpg\" width=\"488\" height=\"312\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The greater percentage of locals in Quintana Roo live off tourism, and as Carlos Constandse, the vice president of Grupo Xperiencias <a title=\"Mexico&#96;s Day of the Dead in Playa del Carmen Xcaret Park\" href=\"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/blog\/2008\/11\/mexicos-day-of-the-dead-in-playa-del-carmen-xcaret-park\/\">Xcaret <\/a>states, those who live from tourism will see greater benefits in earlier sunrises and later sunsets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This time zone will bring great benefits to the state and the locals living here.
