What We Can Look Forward to in 2013 – Professionalism on the Rise in Mexico

Published on: Feb 14 2013 by Thomas Lloyd

handshake3-1As I’ve said before, 2013 is an exciting year for Mexico real estate.  As I get ready to work with Linda Neil in the International Commission for AMPI, Mexico’s professional real estate association, there are many opportunities waiting to be tapped into.

Some of the developments we can look forward to seeing as we begin our work with the International Commission include:

  • New and strengthened bridges with NAR and other international real estate associations.  This points to greater links and access to information about professionals Mexico brokers for U.S. and Canadian brokers.
  • Greater exposure for Mexico real estate. NAR’s own Spotlight program has selected Mexico as its first country, and will highlight the many excellent real estate opportunities, as well as the excellent progress that professionalism has made.
  • Important Steps Forward in Professionalism. While professionalism has advanced in leaps and bounds over the past few years, most states still do not have any requirements for licensing or training; in at least 9 (out of 32) states this is going to change this year.

Brokers in the U.S. and Canada can look forward to exciting opportunities to connect to AMPI’s real estate professionals in Mexico (who, thanks to the work of the International Commission, are now recognized as Realtors) and refer clients to brokers in this country with a greater degree of confidence.
