I focused on the hill with the mysterious ancient pyramid on top and the old convent.\u00a0 I would also like to share a bit more about the town itself.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"Tepoztlan - Restaurant\" src=\"https:\/\/i255.photobucket.com\/albums\/hh138\/beatlo\/Tepoztlan\/Tepoztlan-Restaurant_zps97b9bf22.jpg\" alt=\"Living in Mexico\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><em><strong>The Town<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The main street and a few of the roads surrounding the convent are the center of the town, with artisan shops, colorful restaurants and cafes.\u00a0 The cobble-stone streets of the entire town are lined with adobe-brick houses with red, clay-tile roofs.\u00a0 The town is worth walking through just to enjoy the picturesque scenery and quaint atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Tepoztlan - pottery work\" src=\"https:\/\/i255.photobucket.com\/albums\/hh138\/beatlo\/Tepoztlan\/Tepoztlan-Pottery_zps65f8205b.jpg\" alt=\"Living in Mexico\" width=\"299\" height=\"156\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Market<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Another feature of the town center is the market, which is located right next to the church.\u00a0 While it is probably the least picturesque part of the village, there is something very attractive about.\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"Tepoztlan - Market\" src=\"https:\/\/i255.photobucket.com\/albums\/hh138\/beatlo\/Tepoztlan\/Tepoztlan-Market_zpsa64c73b0.jpg\" alt=\"Living in Mexico\" width=\"299\" height=\"199\" \/>Vendors offer very fresh and tasty fruit and vegetables at amazing prices.\u00a0 There is also an area where they prepare food, and you can enjoy everything from quesadillas to roasted grasshoppers, to full meals of traditional Mexican dishes like &#8220;mole&#8221; (a think black sauce that is both spicy and sweet usually served over chicken.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Tepoztlan - Food in Market\" src=\"https:\/\/i255.photobucket.com\/albums\/hh138\/beatlo\/Tepoztlan\/Tepoztlan-MarketFood_zpsb627d081.jpg\" alt=\"Living in Mexico\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One of my personal favorites is mushroom quesadillas; all the tortillas are freshly hand made.\u00a0 There are also some shops that sell charcoal roasted chicken and rabbit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While I&#8217;ve never seen a UFO or had a witch put a spell on me here, I most certainly feel a different kind of magic standing on the pyramid overlooking the town, seeing the centuries-old paintings in the convent and church, walking in the streets of the town or just enjoying good food!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Tepoztlan - Entrance from Market to Church\" src=\"https:\/\/i255.photobucket.com\/albums\/hh138\/beatlo\/Tepoztlan\/Tepoztlan-ChurchEntrance_zps56e477d3.jpg\" alt=\"Living in Mexico\" width=\"299\" height=\"224\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>TOPMexicoRealEstate.com<\/strong><\/a><strong>; Mexico&#8217;s Leading Network of Specialists for Finding and Purchasing Mexican Properties Safely<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.topmexicorealestate.com\/mexico-real-estate-guide\/The-Purchasing-process?web=Blog\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.planplusonline.us\/servlet\/BbsFileServlet?fileid=2474481&amp;filekey=G3JMfUP4\" alt=\"Kit_PurchasingProcess\" width=\"464\" height=\"72\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier today, I wrote about the village of Tepoztlan, a truly magical village just south of Mexico City &ndash; an area which I just happen to be visiting right now for my work with AMPI.
