After President elect Manuel Lopez Obrador confirmed that the Cancun-Palenque train in the Yucatan Peninsula had the green light, the project is moving along right away. The passengers will be able to travel through the states of Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan, Quintana Roo and Chiapas with the Mayan train. Vila Dosal, who attended the September 9th meeting in Palenque, Chiapas, is anxious to start working on the construction.
3 Million Passengers to Move Amongst Stops
Lopez Obrador announced that the train is expected to reel in 3 million traveling passengers every year to the region. These passengers will be travel through various cities, including five in the state of Yucatan. These are Valladolid, Chichen Itza, Izamal, Merida and Maxcanu-Uxmal. Vila Dosal is proposing that these stops be included in the initial construction plans. This is so the Yucatan can being its global marketing campaign. Tourism is a vital economic element that will contribute to the success of the state of Quintana Roo, as well. Its dependence on international traffic weights heavy on the region’s prosperity.
