For those who have been visiting Playa del Carmen for 5 years or more and haven’t been recently, you are in for a pleasant surprise on your next visit. For those who have Playa del Carmen Homes, the growth and change of this once sleepy fisherman’s village, has been incredible even since I’ve moved here from Canada, about 5 years ago.Â
The common complaint for travellers or everyday commuters driving from Cancun through Playa del Carmen heading south, has been the lag time having so many traffic lights to get through. This past year the city introduced a brilliant solution: to construct 2 overpasses to continue the flow of traffic south to Tulum or even further south into Mexico real estate region, Chetumal.
There are 2 seperate bridges, one starting at the entrance of town that extends just past the main avenue called Constituyentes. There is a smaller one a little past that covers the traffic lights the main avenue to the south called Avenida Juarez, this one ends just by the entrance to Playacar and before arriving to the Centro Maya Mall. This is very convenient to all the residents who live in Playacar as their trek to the airport or to Cancun will make it an efficient trip. Even Playa del Carmen’s newest residential area and soon to be introduced Mexican retirement community lifestyle project called La Escondida will benefit tremendously from these new overpasses.
Stay tuned for more details on Playa’s growth and progress.
