Many people when searching for properties in Playa del Carmen have a desire to be in the downtown area, on or near to the beach and close to the 5th avenue shopping districts. Over the years though, the pricing has increased drastically because of the high demand, and the traffic and quantity of Playa del Carmen condos for sale have increased considerably. Living on the west side of the highway seems too far for most foreigners, the southern part of town does not have many options, and the various gated communities to the north near to the beach, seemed too far from the activities (too many stoplights, too much traffic, too long of a trip). But now, the new overpass being built will make moving from the north extreme end to the south extreme end a fast skip over the traffic and traffic lights.
What does this mean if you are searching for real estate in Playa del Carmen?   More property options and at a reduced cost per square meter. Buyers can now get Playa del Carmen villas in areas that are greener, more private, still near to the beach, and quick 5 – 8 minutes drive to get to 5th avenue.  With the amount of money you save on a condo, you can purchase a car to drive you not only to 5th avenue, but your private transportation will also allow you the freedom to explore the hundreds of beaches, cenotes, ruins, colonial cities that dot the famous Riviera Maya.
