It sure was, but not in the way you’re picturing it.
We had finished showing a nice Mexico golf course real estate to a nice couple from Italy a few days ago and were on the way out the door when Trish stepped down onto a loose doormat. It went out from under her and down she went, breaking her ankle in two places.
Everyone was enormously helpful. A (bikini clad) resident heard the commotion and hustled upstairs with ice in a plastic bag. Our prospect’s husband helped me oh-so slowly get Trish downstairs and out to the car and we sped off to the local privately owned hospital – “Hospiten†– here, very closely to our Playacar real estate area. She received excellent and speedy emergency room treatment; an x ray confirmed her self diagnosis, an orthopedic surgeon showed her the breaks on the film and told her the good news…no surgery. He wrapped her in a foot to knee “waterproof†cast (OK to shower, OK to swim in the pool), gave her a pair of crutches and sent us on our way.
Quality of care? Wonderful. Total time in the hospital? Less than two hours. Total cost for everything? Less than $500.00. That’s right, the decimal is where it belongs, and it’s not a co-pay. That was our total cost. Imagine if we were back in Miami!
Trish is feeling better, and Bob is busy re-learning old housekeeping skills while she issues directives from the couch. But the phones are within easy reach, the computers both work fine and we’d still love to help you find that perfect place in the Playacar real estate market or an ideal retirement get away.
